Fishing around Mineral Point

Fishing early in the morning on the Wisconsin RiverIf you have been searching for a great place to fish, we have some of the best. Small, high quality trout streams are quiet and hidden from the high traffic areas, and provide some of the best fly-fishing anywhere. There are great lakes to fish nearby at Governor Dodge, and Yellowstone State Parks as well as Lake Joy, all within easy access of Mineral Point. There is a boat ramp near the golf coarse at Ludden Lake, only 5 minutes from town. The base of Ludden Lake's dam is a popular place to take the kids fishing. The Wisconsin River, about 30 minutes north, has excellent fishing both from the bank and boat. The Wisconsin River is a great place to take a canoe as are the lakes at Governor Dodge and Yellowstone parks. Most streams open for catch-and-release fly- fishing in March, with general season opening in early May. Both the Big Green River and Castle Rock located near Mineral Point are popular streams. For more information on fishing check the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website
