Scan 2JULY 4th. We have heard folks say that they are sure Norman Rockwell must hide out here on July 4th! The day starts with the annual Gettin’ The Lead Out – a 2 or 5 mile run (it’s a hill of a run.) A big parade follows at 11 a.m. The Chamber sponsors a lunch immediately after the parade with accompanying music. The annual Kiwanis Pie and Ice Cream Social at Soldiers Park is followed by the Mineral Point City Band concert. And finally the fireworks top of a quintessential American day of family fun.
IOWA COUNTY FAIR. The last great celebration of summer is held annually on Labor Day weekend. Grandstand events, livestock shows and a great midway add up to days of family fun.
CORNISH FESTIVAL. An annual event to celebrate the connections between Mineral Point and Cornwall. Many people here can trace their heritage back to the immigration of Cornish families, especially important to the early mining history of southwest Wisconsin. But Cornish or not, you are invited to come and enjoy bus tours, workshops, lots of entertainment, and lots of food, all things Cornish.
FALL ART TOUR. Artists from Mineral Point to Baraboo open the private studios for one of the Midwest’s premier art events. Enjoy the colors of autumn along with high quality artworks every year on the third weekend of October.
