Pendarvis General Admission: Tucked in a scenic valley at the heart of historic Mineral Point, Pendarvis serves as a collection of 19th-century limestone and log buildings and structures that tell the story of the very first Wisconsin “badgers.” As you embark on an hour-long tour through the site, your guide will unpack the history of the Cornish mining community that built and inhabited Pendarvis, as well as the lives of Bob Neal and Edgar Hellum—the progressive couple who in the early 20th century worked tirelessly to salvage and restore the location to its original state. Visit these 1840s buildings and learn how humble Cornish cottages were transformed into a nationally famous restaurant and tourist destination. After, wander the ground’s gardens and terraces and explore a series of hiking trails that weave atop the Merry Christmas Mine Hill and the surrounding prairie, which served as a lead and zinc mining hub in centuries past.
