Sardeson Trail Opening Celebration
Driftless Area Land Conservancy (DALC) is excited to announce a trail opening celebration at the Sardeson Preserve in Mineral Point from 4:30-6:30pm on June 1st. Roland Sardeson was a beloved member of the Mineral Point community, and donated the land that is now DALC’s Sardeson Preserve when he passed away in 2016. DALC is grateful to be celebrating his generosity with support from Roland’s Mineral Point community, many of whom have volunteered their time, energy, and ideas for this preserve. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 will officially open the preserve’s nature trails. Participants can then join local poets on a hike through the preserve, with stops at interesting features to read poems and admire the landscape. No registration is required. For more details and driving instructions to the property, please visit www.driftlessconservancy.org/field-events The creation of Sardeson Preserve’s trails and an accompanying informational kiosk was made possible by a grant from the Mineral Point Community Fund Spring 2021 Grant Cycle of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, Inc. The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin is a resource for area nonprofit organizations whose programs and services are working for the betterment of our communities. Grants from the Mineral Point Community Fund have supported the arts, education, environment, health and human services and historic preservation. For more information on how you can support your community through the Community Foundation, contact Dave Murphy at 608-758-0883, ext. 7010, email at Dave@cfsw.org or visit our website at www.cfsw.org. The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin serves nine Wisconsin counties: Crawford, Grant, Green, Iowa, Lafayette, Rock, Sauk, Vernon, and Walworth. For good. For ever.
