A Ghostly Gathering Returns this Weekend at Shake Rag Alley!

MINERAL POINT, Wis.—Celebrate Halloween at Shake Rag Alley’s fourth annual Ghostly Gathering on Oct. 26. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for a freakishly fun fall evening featuring live music with Feast of Mutton, Fire Show with fire breathing & angle grinding with Miss Mega and fire dancing with Natalie Heck. With a lean toward spectacle & the sideshow, this event will also include an outdoor Night Market of crafters, makers and artists of the unique and unusual; tarot readings, magic with Brandon Gorrell, carnival games, and a costume contest with cash prizes. Eats and treats will be available from Sara’s Street Food and Chef’s Hideout, and wicked  s’mores at the Blacksmith Barn.

A Ghostly Gathering celebrates the ephemeral, the uncanny, the witchy and wonderful about the season. General admission tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. All ticket sales are final. This is a rain or snow or shine event. The fall fundraiser supports Shake Rag Alley’s programming and mission.

There are a few vendor spots still available for the Night Market. Business sponsorships are available to support community programming and the arts. Volunteers can join in the fun of decorating the campus and assisting at the event. For more information, visit https://shakeragalley.org/ghostly-gathering/ or call (608) 987-3292.

Note: This evening is not recommended for children. We look forward to welcoming families to our annual Trick’r Treat night October 31!

Children of all ages will meet friendly (not scary) costumed characters who will be passing out Halloween treats at each of the Shake Rag historic buildings. This Mineral Point tradition is enjoyable for the whole family and a way to meet so many other free spirits and check out their wacky get-ups.

    NEA Big Read Book Discussion | November 3 | 2 p.m.

Join us at Republic of Letters (151 High St.) to discuss Kao Kalia Yang's The Latehomecomer, as part of the NEA Big Read. Focusing on the theme of Where We Live, discussions will engage with Yang's memoir about her family's story—and the story of the Hmong people—their immigration to Minnesota when Yang was only six years old, and their transition to life in America. We'll talk about complex notions of identity, family, migration, immigration, and home, and consider what stories we may have to tell as well.
