Summer or winter, the woods, prairies, marshes, and small towns of southwest Wisconsin welcome you to enjoy the outdoors. This corner of Wisconsin with its pre-glacial landscape of rolling hills and valleys is a cyclist’s paradise. ATV and snowmobile riders will find trails for a great ride. Bring your clubs and take in a round or two at one of Southwest Wisconsin’s elite golf courses. Mineral Point has six City Parks and several State Parks are within easy drives.

The Cheese Country Trail is a 47 mile multi-use trail allows ATV’s, horseback riding, snowmobiles, and bikes, as well as hiking. Enjoy gorgeous scenery from Mineral Point to Monroe on this former rail bed – with 57 overpasses including a 440 ft bridge that spans the Pecatonica River. Users are urged to be cautious and courteous of the many trail users traveling at different speeds.
 DSCN5383MILITARY RIDGE TRAIL is directly accessible from Mineral Point on the Shake Rag Trail.  The Military Ridge connects Dodgeville and Fitchburg, near Madison, WI.  A gentle grade of only 2 to 5 percent provides for a very pleasant ride. The trail is open for hiking, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.
 emblemDAIRYLAND DARE An annual cycling event through Iowa County. Join over 1000 avid cyclist in this challenging, but really scenic ride.

MERRY CHRISTMAS MINE HILL on Shake Rag Street directly across from PENDARVIS HISTORIC SITE has two loops with groomed trails for a total 1 mile hike that will take you past old mining artifacts (including badger holes) and beautiful views of the CIty. A new addition is a butterfly habitat at the base of the trails.
DON HAWKINS COMMUNITY OAK SAVANNA next to the Mineral Point Elementary School grounds on Cothren Street is a restoration of an oak savanna that has preserved mature oaks, some of which are estimated to be more than 150 years old and a great place to take an educational nature walk.
soldiersparkSOLDIERS MEMORIAL PARK is located at the corners of Shake Rag, Commerce and Antoine Streets. This is the largest of the city parks, with tennis courts, basketball court, baseball diamond, playground equipment and an Olympic-sized pool. It is also the sight of a fantastic sledding hill in the winter. There are two shelters that can be reserved for special occasions. Call City Hall 608-987-2361 for reservations.
WATER TOWER PARK is located at the intersection of High and Ridge Streets. This is the home to the Mineral Point Market every Saturday morning from May – October. There is also playground equipment, a basketball hoop and a shelter available.
librarypkLIBRARY PARK is downtown next to the Municipal Building on High Street. This is “where Wisconsin began.” It is here that, on July 4, 1836 Henry Dodge became the first governor of the Territory of Wisconsin.
DSCN8079TED GALLE PARK at the corner of 5th and State is a small quiet park with playground equipment and perfect for little kids who love to dig in sand.
 jerusalempkJERUSALEM PARK.  Just one block “below” High Street, between Fountain and South Streets, this small family park is  equipped with playground equipment, a basketball court and picnic tables.
SKIDMORE-WHITFORD PARK. A small triangle park at the intersection of Commerce and Chestnut Streets. A small shelter with a table is available for a picnic or rest stop.

dogpartkMINERAL POINT UNLEASHED – DOG PARK.  Our newest park has been built especially for the dogs in our lives. Let your dogs run, play and socialize while you enjoy the company of other dog owners. Located off HWY YD just south of the Exit 40 entry to Mineral Point, it has also been noted that this is a great place to watch the beautiful Wisconsin sunsets in the Driftless hills surrounding Mineral Point.
MINERAL POINT POOL. Our municipal pool is one of the real gems of our community, providing hours of summer fun for the whole family. The Olympic size pool was completed in 1937, built as a WPA project using stone from houses that were being dismantled on Shake Rag Street.
